In 1985, Stuart set up a charitable trust to distribute the royalty income of "How Great Thou Art!" more effectively. The first Trustees were Stuart, his daughter Sonia and their solicitor, Oliver Dobbs. The current chair of the Trust, Ray Bodkin, replaced Oliver in 1992. Since then the Trust has supported a number of charities close to Stuart’s heart, particularly those involved in Bible translation and Christian outreach in Eastern Europe.

Stuart could never have imagined any of this when, inspired by his experiences in the Carpathian Mountains, he was inspired to write  ‘How Great Thou Art!’

Sonia Hine passed away on Wednesday October 25th, 2023.

"When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home – what joy shall fill my heart!
Then shall I bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art!"
